FIRST THINGS FIRST: the basics.

We expect that you know the basic rules for rp. Don't godmod/power play, don't control or write someone else's characters without their permission and don't do/force anyone out of their comfort zone! First rise is a mature 18+ Harry Potter roleplay community and as such, we expect that by applying and joining the community, you are agreeing that you are indeed of age to write here. Why such a mature rating? Because we will be dealing with dark, and mature content. If we find out that you aren't of the proper age range to be writing here, you will be removed and banned. as such, with such a mature, adult theme, we will not be allowing any teenagers/Hogwarts students at this time! We realize this may be an inconvenience for anyone looking to write a Hogwarts student, but thus far, we'd rather focus on the lives of Wizarding adults.

Please don't cross the ic/ooc line! if you know something ooc, it doesn't necessarily mean your character will. keep this in mind when plotting and writing out your character. If you do make a habit of crossing this line, you will be warned to stop and to write more fair with everyone else. 

APPLYING: how to join.
You won't need to request to join and write with us, and you can join freely and write. However, you will be on a probationary period until you apply and your application is reviewed. The probationary period will last for one week and then the mods will notify you that your probationary period is over, in which you will be removed. If you'd like to rejoin and apply again after this, feel free to-- we understand that life gets in the way and sometimes you get busy!

If we see anything that we feel might need to be changed to fit the game, we will let you know. If your character has any special abilities, such as legillimens, occlumency, veela etc, you can claim them here. 

QUICK FAQ: a few questions answered:

CAN MY CHARACTER BE IN THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX/A DEATH EATER? 
ABSOLUTELY, in fact, we encourage this! we understand wanting to get your character involved with the plot, and with this game being strictly AU, we don't see a problem in your character being involved with either group.

ARE CANON CHARACTERS SUCH AS THE MARAUDERS ALLOWED FOR PLAY?
Yes!

WHAT CHARACTERS ARE CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE FOR PLAY?
Dumbledore, Voldemort, Hagrid, Fenrir Greyback, Benjy Fenwick, the Minister of Magic, and Barty Crouch sr!

DOES MY CHARACTER HAVE TO BE AN AUROR/MINISTRY OFFICIAL ETC? WHAT OCCUPATIONS CAN THEY HAVE?
Characters are not limited to just one specific thing. while the game does have a heavy focus on auror vs death eater/order vs death eater, etc, other occupations such as daily prophet reporter, shop owner, quidditch player and so on are also allowed!

ARE THERE SPECIFICS ON WRITING?
Yes! But only slightly. Writing should be in third person storybook only, but the only limits on writing length is that we do not allow or tolerate one-liners!

ARE THERE LIMITS ON HOW MANY CHARACTERS I CAN HAVE?
Not at the present time, but we do expect you to know what you can handle along with any real life obligations which might make it hard to take on multiple characters. Don't take on more than you can handle.
